Barton Hills Press Release

On January 17, 2011, Friends of Barton Hills Elementary, a group of concerned parents and community stakeholders,  published a News Release entitled “Friends of Barton Hills Elementary Refutes Task Force Data: It just doesn’t add up.

An excerpt:

Parents at the Barton Hills Elementary School (BHE) and a growing number of community leaders have spent hundreds of hours over the past week researching and responding to the recommendations by the AISD Facility Master Plan Task Force. Based on our findings, we contend that the recommendations are based on criteria that do not put students or their education as a top priority. We contend that the recommendations do not factor educational excellence and are full of inaccurate data, artificially-manipulated data and missing data that do not add up to a compelling business case for closing BHE or any of the schools slated for closure.

The document goes on to list in detail ways the Task Force Proposals are based on inaccurate, missing, or artificially-manipulated data.

While this release is specific to Barton Hills, I hope that it will be useful to other campuses. Please be sure to email any documents, press links, etc. to me so that I can include them on the site.
