This may be a long shot, but here goes! What if the District had a fundraiser? They could hold a Marathon/Half Marathon, once a year, showcasing different neighborhoods in the community. This is a city that LOVES to run, including me. I would do it!

    1. Austin ISD should reduce all salaries above $80,000 by 10%. This would save $4.5 – 5 million and keep more teacher positions off the chopping block. This is the kind of strategy high quality private employers used when the economy went down.

    2. Magnets should receive the same amount of cuts as everyone else. In the budget proposed last night, magnets get to add back 30% of all teachers eliminated from their campuses.

    3. Transportation to magnet schools should by eliminated or provided only for low socio-economic magnet students. Somehow that isn’t in the budget cuts anymore.
